GCMHP conducted an awareness session attended by 28 female caregivers. The session focused on raising awareness among caregivers about preventing behavioral problems in children, highlighting positive parenting techniques that help build a healthy and secure relationship with the child. The difference between psychological disorders and normal behavioral problems that may appear during developmental stages was explained practically. It was emphasized that some behaviors are normal and temporary, but require monitoring and early intervention to prevent them from developing into more complex disorders with additional psychological symptoms.
The importance of early intervention in addressing behavioral issues and not neglecting them was also discussed, as this plays a significant role in preventing their escalation. The participants were trained to recognize signs that a child might be experiencing psychological distress, especially since children often don't express their feelings directly but rather release them through behaviors such as anger, withdrawal, or stubbornness. Therefore, it was emphasized that these behaviors should be understood as indirect messages reflecting the child's inner feelings.
The session also focused on the importance of building a close and trusting relationship between the caregiver and the child. It was stressed that children tend to express their feelings when they feel safe and when the caregiver interacts with them in a friendly and approachable manner, based on dialogue and listening without judgment or harshness.
The session concluded by emphasizing the importance of continuing to implement positive parenting methods, consciously monitoring children's behavior, and seeking support from relevant authorities when needed, to ensure children are raised in a supportive environment that fosters their healthy psychological and social development.
