“ICRC Delegation Visits GCMHP in Gaza City”

The Gaza Community Mental Health Programme (GCMHP) welcomed a delegation from the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) at its main office in Gaza City. The visit aimed to gain insight into the current state of mental health in the Gaza Strip and the specialized services provided by the Programme. The meeting provided a valuable opportunity to exchange expertise and discuss ways to strengthen future cooperation.

During the visit, GCMHP presented an overview of the mental health and psychosocial services it delivers to individuals, families, and the wider community. Discussions also focused on referral mechanisms, coordination processes, and the challenges faced by mental health professionals in the context of the prevailing humanitarian conditions. The ICRC delegation expressed strong interest in enhancing future collaboration in the field of mental health and humanitarian services.

This visit comes as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen joint initiatives aimed at providing integrated mental health care to the local community, reaffirming that mental health is a fundamental human right and that the continued provision of these services, despite significant challenges, reflects hope in the Gaza Strip.
