GCMHP conducted a group counseling session for girls as part of the project "Improving the Availability of Youth and their Caregivers to Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Quality Services in Gaza Strip." The project is implemented in partnership with the Belgian Agency for International Cooperation - Enabel, and funded by the Belgian Government.
The session addressed feelings of anxiety, stress, and fear that can arise from trauma and difficult events experienced by the community, and how to cope with these feelings, particularly during and after the traumatic event.
A range of guidance and advice were provided to help the girls express their feelings in a healthy and safe way. Participants learned helpful techniques, such as deep breathing to calm the body and reduce stress, and the Five Senses technique, which helps focus on the present moment and promotes a sense of calm.
The session also covered self-care practices and their importance in maintaining mental and physical health. The girls actively participated in the session.
