As part of its ongoing efforts to build the capacities of mental health and psychosocial support professionals, the Gaza Community Mental Health Programme (GCMHP) conducted a specialized training on the CABAC (Children Affected By Armed Conflict) methodology and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) for a group of specialists working with the Gaza Group for Culture and Development. The training was attended by 17 psychologists and social workers.
The five-day training aimed to enable professionals to identify PTSD and other trauma-related disorders in children and provide appropriate psychosocial support. It focused on deepening participants’understanding of the psychological, social, and behavioral impacts of armed conflict on children, and equipping them with practical tools for effective intervention and protection of vulnerable populations.
The program also included developing participants’ skills in applying the CABAC guidelines when working with children affected by conflict, and fostering safe and supportive family and community environments to support their recovery.
This training contributed directly to strengthening coordination among psychosocial service providers, ensuring a comprehensive and integrated response, and represents a key form of collaboration during this critical period.
